Vacation

Well, I decided to do this while I had a chance. It is peaceful and quiet around here with the kids and grandma sleeping. It's been so long since I've blogged that I almost don't know quite what to say.

We went to my parents house for the past few weeks and enjoyed spending time with Papa and Grandma Behrens before Papa left on a preaching trip. Aaron's parents and two brothers came a couple days after us and we all enjoyed a little Burkhardt vacation together. We went to Sight and Sounds theater and saw "In the Beginning" in Lancaster. Then we went to eat at the famous Shady Maple smorgasbord. The guys also went to Cabella's while we girls shopped at the outlets until we were broke! Everyone ended up leaving while I stayed back at my parent's house for a few days with the kids. Aaron had to leave with his parents since he had to fly to L.A. for the Freedom Writers Institute.

It was nice staying back and spending some alone time with my mom. The kids and I then drove to my grandomother's house for a few days and then headed back home to see daddy. Drew missed his daddy so much while he was away. He was sad almost everyday and couldn't wait to get home to him so he could play soccer and King Kong. Great Grandma let him pick any toy from Walmart, and he ended up picking a little soccer ball. All the while we were in Walmart, he was telling me that it was his favorite toy in the whole world. He is dying to go to a soccer game and wants to play soccer. He took that ball everywhere with him, slept with it, and ate breakfast with it.

Today we ended up going to Lowes to sign papers to get our screen door put in, and wrapped up the excursion with our most beloved of shopping trips, getting groceries :-( Of course, we had to stop off at Tim Horton's on the way home to ease the pain. While at Lowes, daddy was working everything out and I was walking Alyssa up and down the aisle. Drew asked to run ahead and I told him no. He proceeded to ask me if someone would get him and if they did then would we have to buy another little boy. I chuckled and told him that we didn't buy him, but that Jesus gave him to us, and that I didn't want another little boy. The things that go through kids' minds! Alyssa is just about ready to walk. She will walk up and down the hall or through the kitchen and then fall but is always eager to get up and try again. Pretty soon we'll be chasing her all over the house! As if we needed more exercise :-)

We came home to great news at church. While we were gone, three people were baptized and another family joined the church. Praise God for working in our church and allowing us to be part of a place that strives to be used by Him. We're excited about the next few months and what He is going to do there. Keep praying for us and our church, especially during Vacation Bible School.

More pics coming soon!
