Shoveling and shoveling!

We got dumped with snow yesterday. I probably was out 4-5 times trying to keep up with it so Aaron wouldn't have to come home and shovel. Of course, he did anyways and he and Drew shoveled Mr. Lee's, our neighbors, driveway for him. We are supposed to get dumped this weekend again. We are praying it's not that bad. We are supposed to have our Christmas play Sunday night and we have practiced hard for it. It's a good outreach opportunity for us and we hope to still do it. Drew is excited because Papa and Grandma Burkhardt, Uncle Ben, Miss Claire (Uncle Ben's girlfriend), and maybe Uncle Ron are coming to see him. He gets to say a verse and then sing Away in a Manger all by himself.

I had picked up the mail from the slot yesterday looked it over real quick and then gave it to Drew and asked him to put it on the kitchen table for daddy. This was in the afternoon and after that we went outside to shovel some more because Aaron was let out of school a little early due to the weather. Daddy came home and relieved us of shoveling and we went inside. I was getting supper ready and looked on the kitchen table and thought, I know I told him to put the mail on there. So, here is how it played down:

Me: Drew?

Drew: Yes, mommy.

Me: Where is the mail? I thought I asked you to put it on the table.

Drew: I don't know. I think it just got off on it's own.

Me: Drew, I don't think so. (I am frantically looking around the house)

Drew: Well, maybe it did. (in a totalling innocent tone really believing it did)

I then thought well maybe I should check the garbage. Yep, sure enough I was digging like
a homeless women through the trash and there it all was. Slopped with wet coffee grounds.
Of course, at this point I wasn't a happy camper.

Me: Drew, you put it in the garbage. C'mon son where is your head?

Drew: (leaning down showing me the top of his head as I am still digging) It's right here mommy. See
mommy right here.

Me: (still rummaging through the garbage making sure I retrieved it all)

Drew: Mommy, see here's my head. (he wasn't going to give up until I acknowledged him)

Me: Ok, Drew I see it. Next time you need to listen when mommy tells you to do something.

Drew: Ok. (and heads off to play like nothing happened while I am standing there feeling like I need
another shower already)

Gotta love him!!

Wow, sounds like me and my kids sometimes! Pretty funny though!!! I'm sure you didn't think so at the time. Anyway, enjoy all the snow!
